Children & Family Therapy
Support and understanding when things are difficult.
I am a creative, integrative therapist with a private practice in a quiet corner of beautiful North Yorkshire.
After working as a teacher for over twenty years, I decided to retrain as a counsellor and now support young people who are experiencing emotional difficulties. I also work with adult clients facing difficulties and challenges, helping them to see a way forward and make positive changes in their lives.
If you would like more information, or just a chat about what’s going on for you, please do get in touch.
My style of counselling
Counselling is a type of therapy which gives you a safe and confidential space to explore and address any difficulties or issues you are facing. It’s a chance to make sense of what’s going on for you in a calm and supportive environment, without the fear of judgement or criticism.
I am predominantly a person-centred counsellor, but I may also use a more integrative approach if it’s appropriate. This could mean we explore how your early life and relationships have shaped you and your current behaviours, patterns and sense of self. We will always focus on what is important to you and you will be supported to find new perspectives, make positive changes and feel stronger.
We can adopt a time-limited approach, or the number of sessions can be open-ended. We will review our sessions together to make sure the work is positive and beneficial to you.
"Angela has helped me overcome my anxiety, I had got to a point where I felt I would never conquer it. Angela worked with me, helping me understand how to manage and take control of extreme episode. I've not looked back, I can't thank her enough."
"Many, many thanks Angela for helping me through a very difficult time of my life. You have shown me such empathy and understanding and I am so grateful for that. "
“Thank you for everything – your support and guidance has helped me through a lot over the past months and it means a lot to me”
